e-Learning
Delivered over the Internet or company intranet, e-Learning is a flexible training resource available to trainees at their work place or on any internet-enabled computer. e-Learning is probably the most efficient way to instil skills and knowledge in your workforce.
The method is efficient because good e-Learning programmes capture the imagination of the learner and stimulate the enthusiasm to learn.
Studies show that an enthusiastic learner absorbs and understands more and is better able to apply the techniques and principles learned when returning to the workplace.
Here at Pennant, we stimulate enthusiasm by engaging the learners’ minds and making them think about the subject matter. We include interactive mid-lesson consolidation testing. Simple multi-choice questions have their uses, but we prefer thought-provoking immersive or game-based questions. This approach encourages a logical rerun of the information provided in the lesson and allows learners to get a better grasp of the subject matter and ultimately perform their duties more effectively.
Courseware is developed on our very own Learning Content Development and Management System – Pennant Mosaic.
Offering SCORM and AICC compliancy, Pennant Mosaic is a template-based system which readily supports client branding and provides real benefits to the client in terms of on-line commenting, immediate electronic implementation of the storyboard and an excellent audit trail for comments and version status.
Pennant’s courseware will be precisely tailored to meet your requirements. We provide captivating interfaces produced by our innovative design studio, intriguing interactivity devised by our instructional designers and smart, economic architecture from our programmers. Furthermore, because our e-learning project teams work in close liaison, in the same office, our e-Learning strategies are up there with the best.
The Pension Service - The Learning Highway
The Learning Highway is the largest piece of e-learning ever created within the Department for Work and Pensions; it brings together a huge volume of complex technical information and provides the means to build an infinite number of different bespoke routes through the modules to precisely match the learners requirements.
The web-based Learning Highway was the result. As the name suggests, navigation within the courseware mimics a road journey and enables each learner to follow a bespoke route through some of the 64 modules and approximately 10,000 screens.
Comet - HR Access System e-Learning
Pennant is the main provider of CBT products to high street electrical goods retailer Comet. This has included the design and production of a training solution for Comet's HR Access software, through which Comet manage their human resources data.
The course simulated all aspects of the system, modelling interface elements such as drop-down lists, scroll bars, buttons and text fields. It included an evaluation facility to test the effectiveness of the learning and post results for future analysis.
The HR Access system was in development alongside the development of the e-learning, with an immovable roll-out date fast approaching.
The Pennant design and development team quickly developed working relationships with Comet project personnel in order to familiarise themselves with the system. In addition to attending regular meetings with the client, Pennant received a steady flow of notifications of changes to the system, which due to the flexible, Flash-based design of the course architecture were quickly implemented.
Department for Work and Pension - Working Letters
This 3-hour product was successfully completed to a tight timescale and required close team work to ensure maximum efficiency. The collaboration strategy included making office space available at our Manchester office allowing DWP L&D staff to work in close proximity with our instructional designers and programmers.
The purpose of this course was to improve the letter writing skills in members of staff corresponding with either the public or third parties. Our brief required us to produce a learning experience that was both informative and engaging, and appealed to a broad spectrum of learners with differing skills, job roles and learning styles.
To achieve this we supported all learning content with a mixture of highly interactive exercises, printable fact sheets and reflective activities to be studied and undertaken away from the computer. The course included an optional game (pictured below) in which the learner was required to answer questions based upon letter writing, with the complexity of questions increasing at each level.
As correct answers are given, the climber ascends the mountain, with the goal being to help him reach the summit of the mountain. This increased the visual appeal of the course and gave learners an extra incentive to improve their knowledge.
