OmegaPS Publisher
OmegaPS Publisher is a new and complementary product in the internationally recognised OmegaPS software suite. This development integrates an SGML/XML authoring environment with the core OmegaPS logistic support analysis software, providing a reliable and cost-effective method for generating and maintaining technical documentation in electronic formats and based on logistics data.
|
Features and Benefits
- Communicates directly with OmegaPS to build documents on demand, merging the current logistics data with templates that define the output format (SGML, HTML, XML, etc).
- Uses the XyEnterprise Content@ XML content data management system to provide a stable and reliable authoring environment.
- Bridges the gap between logistics support and technical authorizing by providing a simple, reliable method to exchange information between the two disciplines, thereby achieving concurrency and configuration management.
- Accomplishes the task by three processes:
- Assembly - creation of SGML documents from logistics data, based on a predefined template which mixes 'boilerplate' SGML markup with database queries for the required logistics data. The resulting SGML document can then be edited using any SGML editor, such as Adobe Framemaker+SGML, Arbortext or Epic.
- Extraction - population of the logistics database (LDB) with data from an edited SGML document. The edited document is processed and the logistics data extracted, based on a pre-defined mapping between document elements and tables in the LDB.
- Update - allowing the automated transfer of updated information from OmegaPS into the documentation environment, ensuring that authors always have access to the most up to date source material.
OmegaPS Publisher can be easily tailored to support any SGML DTD or other output format that is compatible with the structure of the logistics data.
