Air Weapons Procedure Trainer (AWPT)

AWPT is a browser-based Instructor-Led or Self-Paced application. The instructor and students are provided with a high fidelity Graphical User Interface (GUI) providing realistic 3-D images of the aircraft and weapon systems.

The system runs on a Local Area Network (LAN) comprising a fileserver, instructor workstation, projector, interactive whiteboard, and 14 student workstations.

A GUI presents AWPT scenarios to students, either on workstations or the interactive whiteboard when projected.

The instructor, via a Learning Management System (LMS) selects training scenarios representing the different weapons, aircraft, and operational tasks. The LMS also provides scheduling, resource and course content planning, with additional functionality allowing the instructor to monitor student actions and receive performance indications as they progress through the scenarios. In Instructor-Led mode the instructor will have the option to access any part of the scenario in a non-linear manner in order to allow portions of scenarios to be repeated out of sequence to reinforce teaching.

AWPT is a bilingual CBT programme with options to run scenarios in English or French Canadian. AWPT was procured by the Canadian Public Works & Government Services and is in-service with the Canadian Air Force at Borden, Ontario.
